Pre-Investigation Findings:
April 22, 2010 (
Our group had a solo
investigation team for this case. We had SURGE P.G. Lead Investigator
doing a pre-investigation of the El Monte Public Library. This was a small
investigation.
The El Monte Library was
founded in 1890, and joined the Los Angeles County Public Library in 1913. It
has been at its present location since 1967.
There were reports from some
employees that experienced unexplained activity in many different locations of
the building. They experienced that feeling of being watched and hearing
unexplained noises. Our Lead
Investigator did his best to find some answers. No claims of flying books or
shadows.
Our Lead Investigator used
audio recording equipment,
In
our analysis of our audio recordings we found no phenomenon in the hallways,
restrooms or rooms. There was nothing found in our video recordings to claim
paranormal (haunting), but did notice some high distortion of EMF
(Electro-magnetic Field) readings. The high gauss (mG) readings where
coming from the electrical box that is located in the south hallway measuring
at unsafe levels (reading 20.4 mG). This potentially harmful field reading
could explain occupants feeling their hair standing up and sensation of being
watched. The distortions from the hallways and restrooms regarding
orbs around our security night-vision cameras were caused by drafts coming from
the poor doorway weather striping. The analysis team did not notice this
around the other cameras in the other rooms. We dismissed this due to the fact
that there was lots of dust and a draft in the room (draft was measured on wind
meter. Temperatures stayed the same across the rooms and hallways. There were no cold spots experiences during
the investigation.
We
did not get any EVPs, images or unexplained phenomenon in the library during
pre-investigation. We determined the unsafe range of EMF readings is due
to the electrical panel in the hallway.
There were no signs of
ghosts or spirits during our investigation. There were no signs of paranormal distortion
experienced or recorded.
We feel that fear of is a
key element for experiencing a haunting at this location. When closing up for
the night and turning off all the lights and making sure that there is no one
left in the building before setting the alarm is what might lead to experiences.
Humans have a tendency of overacting to explainable situations that occur in
the dark, but due to the fear we feed ourselves in the dark; we tend to feel
and see things that are not there.
It was difficult to come up with a conclusion based on a few hours of investigating. Our Lead Investigator did not experience any type of paranormal activity during the investigation. Based on this investigation we have to say at this time that this is not a haunted location, there are no signs of paranormal activity.
